There will always be a place in my heart for the old hand drawn movies but the new computer generated images found in today's Disney movies is mesmerising.
No matter what, I find that children adore Disney movies no matter what kind of approach the animators use. The stories are so compelling and original (not to mention entertaining) that children of all ages will enjoy each and every one of the films. This includes the older ones that retain such charm.
With the ability to purchase my old time favorites on DVD I can give my kids the same experiences that I had when I was a child. Indeed, my children watch these movies over and over again. Creating your own collection of Walt Disney films may take a little time and effort but it is worth everything that you put into it. I love that I have many of the classics available any time at all.

Nothing but a Profit-hungry Cartel
Something fishy is definitely going on when the state can afford to shell out around $400,000 annually for each classroom but the quality of students in terms of learning is at an all-time low. What manner of outrageous mockery is this? Could it be the fault of some type of educational cartel? The following details may serve to validate it indeed.
The statistics themselves are enough to dishearten anyone... nearly 80% of graduates from high school who actually manage to take up further schooling in college need some form of remedial lessons. Students who enter college should already be capable enough already academically as long as their fundamentals are sound. If that was not bad enough, the current educational system is the main culprit for this shortcoming.
A saying goes that the youth are the hope of tomorrow. However, there is a small problem with this particular statement. How can there be a tomorrow if the youth aren't well equipped enough to handle the challenges ahead because of sub-standard schooling? It makes for a very provocative thought indeed.
The culprit here is the New Jersey Education Association. The group is primarily a teachers' union with the noble task of molding the minds and the educating the youth in public schools across the state. It wields considerable political influence and it has massive influence. One would think that proper education would be the focus but sadly, it is not. This union acts in ways that show it to be only after personal enrichment using state funds and to perpetuate generations of students who will always lack a good education. This despite increasing funds allotted for the improvement of learning curriculums. It seems the funds have only proceeded into the pockets of an unscrupulous few in the group.
There has been news of how one of its members has been grossly paid beyond acceptable means. A job as a school district secretary is by all means a reasonable position but there's something wrong if the pay received amounts to approximately $180,000 yearly. The amount is enough to raise eyebrows but the reason is even more shocking because it was done due to the influence of the educational cartel.
When the children's minds and opportunity for learning are sacrificed for the benefit of the ones wielding power, it truly bodes ill for the educational system indeed. This is coupled with the fact that even incompetent teachers cannot be removed or replaced simply because they are close to the said group. Parenthetically, untainted and/or qualified educators who have had the courage to go against the status quo found themselves being harassed or even dismissed from the job.
This is truly a sad state the educational system is in. Mentors with principles and a heart for students are being targeted leaving a bleak future for the current system. It is corruption at its worst, indeed.
However, not all is lost. There are charter schools whose mission is to uplift the quality of education and they have done a consistently good job in outperforming the state-run district schools. One would think they would be receiving better state or government support for their efforts but the sad case is the opposite. The very same educational bureaucrats make it hard for these charter schools to progress any further simply because they are a threat to their well-entrenched positions. At this rate, more young minds will continue to languish in substandard education unless the tax-paying public does something about this.

American civilization is currently under threat. Unfortunately, the danger is not as obvious as one would think, as in the case of terrorism. The greater menace is really the lowering standards provided by the public school education, which can be attributed to the education cartel. The effects have far-reaching consequences and in fact cannot be easily quantified.
Almost everybody recognizes the present problem. Students of public schools are consistently performing way below the desired objective. This is evidenced by test results in math and reading that leaves a lot to be desired, corruption that is rampant and a very long and arduous process of dismissing teachers and staff, to the effect that it is virtually impossible to do so. The stark reality is that US will face a future filled with ill-prepared workforce.
The most pressing problem brought about by the cartel in education is it protection of the teachers and staff, irrespective of their performance. This translates to moves toward mediocrity as the need to improve is dispensed with.
Also, the education cartel is more concerned with increasing its power base as well as accumulating bigger budgets which do not really benefit the students. In fact, the flexing of muscles of the education cartel can be seen in the recent veto of Florida Governor Charlie Crist of a proposed law, which ties compensation of teachers with their performance. Clearly, the overriding concern of the cartel prevailed.
In this regard, cartel in education has been a major player in the derailing the dismissal process for undeserving teachers. Its power is duly recognized such that the termination of employment of all teachers and staff in Central Falls, R.I. has caused major shock waves. It really makes one stop and take stock of what is going on in the public school system.
It is quite disheartening, however, when criticism of the current state of the public school system is construed as hatred in the system itself. This is not so. The truth is teachers and staffs that perform well are still being accorded recognition. One such teacher is Beverly Jones. She exposed the dishonesty that was rampant in Trenton, involving payment of salaries to ghost employees as well as promotion of the repeaters' program, at the cost of holding back students. This is just one of the facets of the fraud present in the system.
The problem of having an education cartel will not go away on its own. The response must be proactive to stamp out the corruption and mediocrity it generates. The present alternatives are charter schools and voucher schools. Their advantages and disadvantages are not comprehensively known. Nevertheless, coming up with alternatives are necessary to prevent the education cartel's detrimental effects on students.
It is believed that by providing competition for the current public school system, the cartel in education would be forced to level up in terms of performance, which in the end would benefit the students.
