Not What I Anticipated – Antivirus Software Review

I've had a few issues. First, trying to get 2009 to run with Windows 7 was causing some issues.

But that was my mistake, not the products. Again, I love this product and the folks I purchased it from refunded my money upon return, only thing I did not like was being charged an unnecessary restocking fee of $10 for such a lightweight object. I have been using the Norton security products for many years, and I have been for the most part very satisfied with them. The one gripe I have is that every year when I go to renew my subscription, I find that I can purchase new copies of the software for less than the renewal price. I am a long-time user of Norton's products, and am well satisfied with Internet Security. I spend a lot of time online, and have not had any problems.

I installed NIS on 2 computers that had NIS 2010 on them (1 Vista 64 and the other Windows XP). For one I followed Norton's suggestion on its web site to delete all temporary files, but for the 2nd install I did not.

My computer is at least twice as fast and maybe more. I have more options on what I want to do as far as security goes and it doesn't interfere with other things I want to do. This version of Norton is much better than previous versions of a few years ago. Run on an old Pentium 4 XP sp2 machine. Otherwise, I am very happy with the product itself. All I had to do was follow the step by step instructions and register the product.

It's an easy program to work with and install. Catches most security problems and fixes them.

Norton quality combined with Amazon great price and service can't be beat. I've stuck with Norton through all its ups and downs for over 15 years now.

Unfortunately, their removal tool removes all history, settings, and worst of all, all quarantined files. In the brief period that the product worked before saying that it had expired, it moved four files into quarantine. I have to run it manually from the NIS screen and it will check, download and then fail to complete when processing updates. Clicking on the link they provide shows an estimated time of up to 11 hours to download.

Unfortunately, I find that the known bad sites are among the top few that pop up when doing a search. Without NIS, I would certainly have selected some of those bad sites had there not be the NIS warning. Once installed, it just slips into the background and does its work. It's inconspicuous. Some other products work better in some areas. No product is perfect and some of the ones that are more aggressive cause other problems.

It has saved me from downloading software I thought was save because I knew so many people that used it, for example: certain person-to-person music downloading software. SMALL SPACE OTTOMAN FOLD OUT BED.
