Good Value For The Price – Best Antivirus Software Critique
It should be pain-free and smooth. Not cumbersome, slow, and idiotic. I've had a few issues. First, trying to get 2009 to run with Windows 7 was causing some issues.
So, not to be one who holds all his eggs in one basket, I bought Malwarebytes Anti-malware software and ran it to check for malware and viruses. Guess what, there were 16 Trojan viruses on my computer that were NOT identified by NIS. I have had about 4 instances of virus and Norton cleaned up each one with no problems. Also, I have noticed no slowdown in my computer after switching to Norton. After running the first Deep Scan, it found and fixed numerous problems. It even found a virus that had disabled my DVD/CD drive and corrected it.
I also recommend NIS over Norton 360, as the latter product is overkill for the average user, and can consume more memory/resources. So, they play a rough game, you have to add to your arsenal. Malwarebytes will not get every virus either.
You can't beat the price! I mean come on, that's cheap!
It works every day in the background. It comes with a disc of useful utilities.
I am still using Windows XP and therefore cannot comment on Windows 7 compatibility. I haven't had attacks that damaged anything, but Norton did report preventing several Trojan-type attacks. It is hard for me to try another brand. We have used Norton Internet Security for all our computers for a number of years.
Lastly, I ran a test twice using the full system scan. The first scan took 2 hours and 23 minutes (471,753 total items scanned) with 9 risks detected and resolved! With the Norton Internet Security and Spybot-SD Resident, I have all the protection I need on my computers. I've purchased these products for probably the last time. I ran some free antivirus and firewall products on a few other computers at home, and Norton performed so much better in comparison. I can't say enough good things. The first thing I noticed about Norton was how fast it was installed - less than 2 minutes on my 3 year old computer running Vista, no doubt much faster on newer machines. Activation after the installation was a breeze.
Norton has the option to use their password manager, but just like last version, the password manager is not so secure. above ground pool landscaping.
