Do You Have An Overactive Bladder? Be Careful In What You Consume

Do you suffer from having a bladder that is overactive? Do you feel like you're constantly getting up to go to the toilet? Have you tested out all kinds of things in an attempt to prevent those frequent trips to the restroom when you are at work? Most folks think that it is our liquid consumption that contributes to the amount of time we spend relieving our bladders. This is the reason that so many people end up inadvertently dehydrating themselves in their attempts to stay out of the restroom.

Would you believe that sometimes it is what you may be eating that may be causing you to frequently visit the restroom during the day? The simple fact of the matter is the fact that those number one potty breaks are simply a way for your body to relieve waste. The waste amasses equally from liquid and solid intakes. What you excrete is often from something solid as well as fluid, regardless of which form it took when you ingested it.

While Vitamin C is essential for fighting off infections, it has been proven that citrus fruits can upset the bladder. This is certainly due to the fact that many citrus fruits are made up of acid and that is why they need to be avoided both as solids and as juices. The key sources of this acid are generally pineapples (which isn't technically a citrus fruit but is every bit as irritating to your system), lemons, tangerines, grapefruits and oranges. Instead, stick to fruits like bananas, pears, apples and berries for your Vitamin C intake.

Try to not cry over this too much but if you have an overactive bladder, you ought to avoid eating too much chocolate. Chocolate includes caffeine. The bladder isn't a lover of caffeine and will make you take many potty breaks if you take in too much of it. The exact same holds true for caffeinated liquids as well. If you have been making a lot of trips to the toilet you need to stay away from all forms of caffeine. Choose dark chocolate and also decaffeinated liquids instead.

Foods that are particularly spicy might annoy your bladder quite a lot. This will probably be tough for people who are fans of spicy foods but if you want to stay out of the bathroom you need to avoid foods that contain high levels of spiciness like wasabi sauce, super spicy nachos, etc. If eating the food will cause your eyes and nose to get runny, it will make other parts of your body runny. The fix is easy: choose foods that aren't as spicy--this way you will get the same good tastes without irritating your bladder.

We typically believe that if it's fluid when it comes out it will need to have been liquid when it went in. This is usually not totally correct. The waste product that comes out of our bodies is simply the excess parts of what we have consumed that cannot be used or stored so it is excreted in whatever manner is the most convenient.
