You Must Use Facebook For Improved Rankings on Search Engines

In our recent issue, we discussed about how to use Facebook ads to bring your business to the higher level. In this issue we are going to talk about social media management for improved search engine rankings and traffic.

A lot of online marketers are now confident that Facebook has overtaken Google as a source of website traffic. Whether this is true or not, it's not surprising to know that many other marketers are jumping in the bandwagon to try out Facebook marketing for themselves also because this way is a lot cheaper and a lot easier to set up.

Here are some further tips on how to get traffic from search engines straight to your Facebook page:

- Back Link. Back Link. Back Link.

You can find a number of ways you can lead your potential clients and customers towards your page. This is one of the beauties of this social networking site. You can do this through backlinks depending on the number of 'Likes' that you accumulate. This is the onsite way.

The offsite way is to build links using other websites such as your formal website, article directory sites, other social networking sites, email signatures and the like. Using of articles to form backlinks is quiet effective and cost-effective as well. Not only that, they also allow you to presell to your prospects before getting to your main page.

- Use A Professional Business Name

While it's good to be resourceful with your profile and updates, the same does not follow for your Facebook name. The primary goal is to provide a name that's retrieveable for others. This maximizes your target keywords much better. Be sure that your business name doesn't come with too much hype. In some cases, you might also need to distinguish yourself from another identical business name. For instance, if your business name is Jonathan's Fruits Shakes, and there's another business name that sounds similar, why don't you consider changing yours into "Jonathan's Healthy Fruit Shakes"

The same goes for vanity URLs. This is a relatively fresh addition to Facebook features supposedly placed to make the searching for your Fan page easier. Similar to your business name, your URL should be very relevant. Go for something direct such as facebook.com/jeremiahsfruitshakes.

- Your Profile Should Be Comprehensive

Your squeeze page is probably one of the most significant parts of your Fan Page. From here, customers will come to a decision whether they want to read on and explore the other parts of your profile or not. With this, it's crucial that your profile is complete with all the necessary details. Here, you can be imaginative with the descriptive text that you place in the About Page and related outside links.

Your landing page is also one of the pages where you can place keyword-rich text. Aim to place in words that are most searchable in your industry, so Google and other search engines can easily pick them up. Try also to get positive customer feedbacks or testimonials. This will add trustworthiness to your page and to your brand in general.

With all the benefits of using Facebook as a business tool, still it's not recommended that you use a Facebook Fan page as a replacement for an official website. Facebook only adds another dimension to the logistics of online marketing.
