Plenty Of Businesses In The Area Don’t Get the Efficiency from Their Internet Asset

I've spent a number of hours today visiting and reading the websites for businesses in a radius of one mile from where I sit to analyse how many of them have some type of online marketing, either in the form of ad-words or search engine optimisation and I have not discovered any yet. This gratifies and upsets me.

It pleases me because, as somebody running an affordable SEO company, I clearly look out upon a target rich environment. It upsets me as if I can only partner with a small number who regard their website as an important component of their company, there are a number who are simply not going to reach prospective customers, and might as well have not expended their money on a website at all. And the expenditure may not have been well spent anyway because I have examined and it appears that if they have paid a software consultancy to create their site and maybe host and support it for them, the sites are not even indexed with the search engines so the chances of anyone using keywords to find the site are virtually nil.

One of the most basic procedures of search engine optimisation is to ensure that the website that is being promoted is catalogued with all the big search engines, and I would advocate that anyone, even if they aren't having expert search engine optimisation supporting and promoting their site, to ensure they do that. It is very straightforward and they should also be certain that their software consultancy produces a sitemap to feature in the registry so that the search engines can at least visit the site and familiarise themselves with all pages and the describing keywords.

If we think of a company's website we can view it as grouping into 1 of 2 categories. Either it gives a trading arm to the business in that it generates sales or can be used for potential buyers to look at prior to contacting the business with a view to doing business or registering an interest. The other type is one that is just for informational or 'read-only' reasons and maybe offers a news service but is not an important consideration of the work of the company.

If the firms falls in any way outside the second category, then some sort of online promotion is crucial as from some of the sites that I have studied today, there is nothing amiss with the company or the website but they come nowhere in relation to their local competition which is found by the search engines by utilising some of the keywords used by the website. That is bizarre and by employing an affordable SEO company to elevate their site up the results pages they will be more likely to get trade as a result of their website than they presently do. They don't even need to use me to do it, though obviously I'd like it if they did, but from the point of view of the local economy it would be preferable to maximise their website which is, when all is said and done, a business asset. For heaven's sake use it!

It could be that they merely don't know how and see it as a costly error if no one goes to them via the internet. What I think they don't appreciate is that nobody is going to come across a site by accident, it must be pushed and search engine optimisation would be the way I would recommend it gets done.
