HTC Mozart 7 – How Good Is It?

HTC's entry into the Windows Phone 7 environment has been bold with 5 new offerings. The Mozart 7 is a stylish unit, made of an aluminum unibody chassis, that looks great. This phone has an 8 mega-pixel camera fitted with a Xenon flash. Many of the competitors in this class have a 5 mega-pixel camera with a less powerful LED flash. Zune software enables easy downloads and organization of all your tunes and videos.

This brushed aluminum bodied phone utilizes a 1GHz Snapdragon chipset and a 3.7 inch SLCD display and 8GB of memory. The face of the unit contains three backlit buttons at the bottom of the screen. Above the screen is the grill for the ear speaker. There are matte silver buttons on the sides of the unit to control volume, power and camera. There is a 3.5mm headphone jack located on the top near the power button.

The camera on the HTC Mozart is an 8 mega-pixel auto-focus. This outshines many of the other smartphones in its class that usually come in at 5 mega-pixels. The Mozart falls short in options to adjust this powerful camera however, lacking settings for ISO, EV, sharpness, and metering. There are reports that the HD camcorder feature has problems with frame rate reduction, particularly in low light conditions, where the number of frames per second is reduced lowering the video quality.

If you are a music fan the HTC Mozart is the smartphone for you. It has excellent quality speakers with high-end technology known as SRS WOW HD, which enhances the sound quality in the form of virtual surround sound. The music + videos hub is powered by Zune, which can be used to get all the music and videos you need. If you already have favorites stored on another machine, simply sync the phone via wireless connection and you are ready to take your entertainment on the go.

Good looks and music go together in the HTC 7 Mozart. A stylish design crafted from a solid aluminum block kick off a good looking unibody case while the high class speakers and software designed for music lovers. The 8GB camera is a great feature as well. With limited adjustment capabilities, you may find yourself wishing for a more versatile camera. If you expect world-class photos, you may want to stick with your trusty SLR instead of your cell phone.
