Can You Really Unlock Your Iphone?
In short, Jailbreak is the process of hacking an iPhone to free it from Apple restrictions.
The iPhone is a good product. But it's far from perfect. As a result, millions of iPhone owners have looked to the best jailbreak software to unlock their phone so that they can then improve the iOS. The iPhone suffers from a severe lack of customizability, lack of privacy, and more. When you jailbreak, though, you can fix these problems and many others with apps, patches, and plugins available in the Cydia marketplace.
Cydia and Installer are the only real repositories for 3rd party and unapproved apps. You can get more on random websites, but these two aggregate them and act as unnofficial app stores.

The differences between Cydia and the App Store are the lack of an app approval process, and the lack of access limits on the iPhone software - i.e. you can do things Apple did not design the iPhone software to do.
Why Jailbreak iPhone?
First - It removes any and all restrictions that Apple puts on your phone. Of course, you still might not be able to use the phone as a deathray, but if someone created an app for that, you would be able to install it even if Apple didn't want you to. Want to customize your icons? Create a custom, homebrewed app? Jailbreaking is the only way to do it.
Second - To join the community! Apple has a fascist hold on their iPhones. I should say, YOUR iPhones, because YOU paid money for the device. When you get involved with jailbreaking, you'll find a vibrant community of end users out there.
Third - Unlock and untether, baby! Jailbreaking is the process of cracking the phone so that you can run 3rd party apps on it. After you jailbreak, you've then got the option of "unlocking" the phone. This means that you can use it on other providers. Apple currently tries to tie you to AT&T.
Why NOT Jailbreak iPhone?
1st)Apple, as a company, generally knows what it is doing. There are certain features that the iPhone is capable of, but that they have not enable. And this is usually for a reason. For instance, when you multitask, it is a huge drain on the battery. By using the default configuration, you'll know that your iPhone will just work. Period.
Second - Your iPhone could *potentially* become bricked. This happens when the unlock or jailbreak process gets interrupted or messed up somehow, and your iPhone is as useless as a brick until you restore it to factory settings (losing all of your date in the process).
3rd)You can never update your phone again. Whenever you get an iOS upgrade or an iTunes update, your phone is locked again - i.e. not jailbroken. Whenever Steve Jobs and Co. release one of these updates, they find a way to prevent jailbreaking with it. And everyone has to wait until some enterprising hacker figures it out again.
Fourth - The minute that you jailbreak your iPhone, the warranty is null and void. So if you accidentally brick it, or even drop it or something - you are on your own and stuck paying for any repairs out of pocket.
